ChokeS: THE “HEAD DOWN CHOKE”

This is an important choke. It can just “fall into place” in ground fighting or when you are rushed, head down. Once in a street fight I kicked my attacker’s kneecap, then grabbed his hair and pulled him into this choke. He soon became unconscious, hanging from under my arm pit;-).

A. From any position similar to that shown here,

B. place the boney inside edge of your right (in this case) forearm across his throat. You may have to force it into place, the bony inside edge against the front of his throat.

C. Grasp your right hand firmly with your left hand and tighten the hold into your armpit so as to leave as little “play” as possible in the area around his neck, and no distance between the front of his throat and your forearm. His head is encircled by your arms.

D. The choke is obtained by arching your back while his neck and head are tightly trapped. Both arms may be used to force your forearm deeply into his throat. His head cannot move upward in defense because it is embedded under your arm pit.

A.

B.

C.
